Starkey Rolling Out the Red Carpet
|
75 kids and adults today were fitted with state-of-the art hearing aids as part of the Starkey Hearing Foundation's annual mission known as "So the World May Hear." Starkey Founder Bill Austin talked about the importance of hearing for the learning process, telling the children and their families that "80 percent of what you learn comes through the ear, and if we can help these children be all they can be for the future of our world, we're going to have a better world."
Since 2000 the Starkey Foundation has distributed more than 340,000 hearing aids to needy children and adults in 86 countries. This weekend Starkey is holding its annual benefit featuring such celebrities as Elton John, Gladys Knight, Billy Crystal and Tony Bennett. WCCO Radio will provide coverage of several events on Saturday and Sunday, including Sunday's Red Carpet gala.
