The Minnesota Wild want Marian Gaborik's situation resolved in the next two months.
General manager Doug Risebrough told reporters on a conference call Tuesday it would be "prudent" to sign the star right wing to a contract extension before the regular season starts in October.
Risebrough said an offer is coming soon, and that's all he's "dealing with" now. He declined to discuss the possibility of trading Gaborik if the franchise's all-time leading scorer doesn't want to commit. Gaborik's agent, Ron Salcer, said Monday he wouldn't speculate about his client's wishes.
Risebrough said he has not received calls from other general managers regarding Gaborik's availability. He said he's confident Gaborik believes the Wild are committed to winning.
