Need a cat? The Animal Humane Society of the Twin Cities sure hopes so, as it tries to deal with a significant explosion in the feline population. Over the last year, the five humane society locations in the metro area has taken-in about 16-thousand cats -- that's about 44 a day. Deb Balzer is with the Humane Society, she says the problem has resulted from the failure of cat owners to spay and neuter their animals.  Balzer says they look for several different ways to get the cats to proper homes. But sadly, some cats may have to be euthanized due to lack of space.
