Don Shelby

Weekdays, 3pm to 6pm

Don Shelby is known to many as the TV Anchor of WCCO 4 News. Don's show on WCCO Radio gives him the freedom to take some of the topical news of the day and give it an edginess that is not available on radio in the Twin Cities or within a television news format. Don raises the level of the public dialogue while partnering with the WCCO Radio News Team.   He and News Editor, Jeff McKinney, team up each weekday from 3-3:30pm for the 'McSkinney'.   A unique 1/2 hour of entertaining talk and story telling.  No subject is off limits for the 'McSkinney'!

Don Shelby has anchored the WCCO 4 News at 10:00pm since 1985.  He has won all five of the nation's top journalism awards, many of which he has won multiple times. These include three national Emmys, the Columbia-duPont Citation, the Scripps-Howard Award for Excellence, two George Foster Peabody Awards (the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize) and the Society of Professional Journalist Distinguished Service Award.  In May 2007, Don was honored with a Leadership Award by Conservation Minnesota, for his creation of WCCO TV's Project Energy.

Don describes this show as a mix of news, issue-talk, and audience participation.   Don has said that doing drive-time radio has been his fantasy since he was in college.
