A cool, wet Spring has pushed back burning restrictions in Minnesota's Arrowhead. Burning permits are now restricted in Northern St. Louis, Lake and Cook Counties. Jean Bergerson of the DNR's Interagency Fire Center in Grand Rapids says May 14th is about as late in the year as she can remember holding off on burning restrictions. She says at the moment, fire activity is minimal. Since the inception of Spring burning restrictions, the number of Spring wildfires from debris burning has been reduced about 10-percent.
